Galeries Lafayette Doha celebrates French National Day in presence of French Ambassador

Celebrating its French heritage, Ali Bin Ali Holding’s Galeries Lafayette Doha commemorated the French National Day in the presence of the Ambassador of France to Qatar, Mr. Franck Gellet.

On July 14, the iconic French Department Store welcomed the Ambassador to celebrate the occasion. Considering the current pandemic situation, Galeries Lafayette Doha kept the event simple this year.

The Ambassador was received by Mr. Kevin Pender, Acting General Manager of Galeries Lafayette Doha, and joined by Mr. Awn Zureikat, COO of ABA Luxury, Mr. Bassel Ammar, General Manager of ABA Hospitality, Ms. Suha Shatila, Group General Manager – Marketing, along with other members of Galeries Lafayette Doha and the Ali Bin Ali Holding team.

Galeries Lafayette Doha is a reflection of France in Qatar and, to enjoy its essence, Mr. Gellet was given a tour of the exquisitely designed retail space to check out the premium French brands in store. It was the ideal setup to relish the spirit of Galeries Lafayette – the ‘French Art of Living’.

Mr. Gellet enjoyed the experience and said, “I am glad to be celebrating French National Day at Galeries Lafayette Doha. The iconic Department Store is an embodiment of France and with all its diversity and splendor, it perfectly reflects the image of France here in Qatar. Speaking about the success of French brands in Qatar under Ali Bin Ali Holding’s management, the Ambassador said: “The success is directly related to the trust of the very enterprising Ali Bin Ali family. The event was a culmination of a week-long campaign Galeries Lafayette Doha had organized to celebrate French National Day 2020. The Bleu-Blanc-Rouge campaign from July 7 to 14 saw the store highlight the colors of the French flag, creating the perfect ambiance for the occasion.

Thanking Galeries Lafayette Doha for organizing such a muted and elegant Bleu-Blanc-Rouge campaign during a pandemic, Mr. Gellet said: “It is a symbolic end to the confinement and gradual resumption of activities. It is a message of hope that we are moving towards more favorable times.”

Galeries Lafayette Doha showcases FTA winner Andrea Wazen

Adding to its exclusive collection, Galeries Lafayette Doha in June 2020 showcased the creations of 2020 Fashion Trust Arabia (FTA) winner Andrea Wazen. The young Lebanese accessory designer’s class and style organically match the premier French Department Store’s brand.

The spotlight on brand Andrea Wazen was also a part of Galeries Lafayette’s vision to highlight local and regional talents and champion their creations. Working closely with factories and artisans in Lebanon, all Andrea Wazen shoes are handmade and designed in Beirut.

Kevin Pender, acting General Manager of Galeries Lafayette Doha, is excited about this exclusive collection and said: “As part of our continued commitment to introduce new exciting designers, we are proud to bring, to fashion lovers in Qatar, some of the exclusive creations by this talented designer. Born in London and raised in Beirut, Wazen developed a great passion for sketching and designing at a young age. To fulfill her dreams of becoming a fashion designer, Wazen moved to Paris and specialized at the Istituto Marangoni Italian fashion school where she discovered and was appreciated for her skills in shoe designing.

In 2010, Wazen relocated to London where she was trained under the tutelage of Rupert Sanderson and Christian Louboutin while attending shoe design courses at the renowned Central Saint Martins School of Arts.

Since launching her brand in 2017, Andrea Wazen has quickly garnered a celebrity following and has been spotted on the likes of Kylie Jenner, Hailey Bieber, Ciara, Jennifer Lopez, Emily Ratajkowski and Sienna Miller, to name a few. Most recently, Wazen was honored with the prestigious Fashion Trust Arabia Award, naming her Accessories Designer of the Year.

“It is such an honor for me to have my collection displayed at Galeries Lafayette in Doha. The French department store has always been my go-to place while I was living in Paris, it makes me so happy to have such a beautiful and nicely curated department store in our region,” says Wazen.

“My SS20 collection is inspired by my lifestyle in Beirut during the summer. The colors are from a recollection of beautiful sunsets, the morning sun and the clear blue sea,” she adds. “Beirut is a very diverse city, not just in terms of people but always as a way of life; you have the amazing nights out, the long laid-back dinners, the family lunches in the mountains outside the city and the beach life at your doorstep.”

Henry Jacques launches new collection at Galeries Lafayette Doha

Henry Jacques is one of the niche brands at ABA Holding’s Galeries Lafayette Doha. In May 2020, the French Haute Parfumerie revived a sense of grandeur and historic rituals with its Royal Cabinet, a meticulously hand-crafted chest designed to house a personal assortment of perfumes.

ABA Holding Finance Team enjoys a fun day out

Ali Bin Ali Holding’s Finance Department took a much-deserved break as it organized a get-together for the community and their family members. On March 6, 2020, the team assembled at the Sealine beach resort for a day of informal fun and socialization.

Apart from members of the Finance Department across all divisions of Ali Bin Ali Holding, present at the get-together were Group Chief Financial Officer Mr. Iftekhar Ahmad, Group General Manager – Finance Mr. Ganesh P.K., Finance General Managers – Mr. Adnan Suleiman, Mr. Shakil Maruf, Mr. Asad Saleem and Group General Manager – HR Mr. Aldrine Austine Fernandez.

The get-together has been a longstanding tradition in the ABA finance community, and this year the organizing team made sure it was a memorable one. Some 400 people showed up for the day, making this the biggest ABA Finance event yet.

The day was packed with fun activities, team-building events, competitions and lots of presents. It was the perfect set-up and a great opportunity for the entire ABA Finance family to mingle outside the formal office setting.

The event enabled them to know each other better and build stronger working relationships, through creative and fun activities, such as a sand castle competition, Master Chef and Finance Got Talent, to name a few.

Thanking everyone for making the gathering a success, Mr. Iftekhar said: “We might meet each other every day at work but today we experienced the fun, unknown side of many of our colleagues.  It is very important that we give our brains some time to relax so that we can focus better at work. It was a great, fun day and I hope this has made our bonding stronger.”

Ali Bin Ali Luxury shines at 17th Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition

Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition (DJWE), the annual spectacle featuring local and global luxury brands, unveiled its 17th edition and, once again, Ali Bin Ali Luxury became a part of its success story.

The exclusive show, held from February 20 to 29 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, celebrated the spirit of luxury and the beauty of stunning craftsmanship. It brought together the country’s top luxury retailers and renowned global brands under one roof.

Ali Bin Ali Luxury has been a part of the prestigious event since its inception and has taken pride in displaying the most luxurious jewelry and timepieces in such a glamorous setup.

Like every year, Ali Bin Ali Luxury’s booth at DJWE was a major attraction for all lovers of jewelry and glamour. A special in-booth event was organized on the February 26 at Marco Valente’s booth where the designer and cutting-edge stylist presented the brand’s latest novelties.

This year, apart from the all-time favorites, Ali Bin Ali Luxury unveiled new brands like Dolce & Gabbana and Nous at the exhibition.

Ali Bin Ali Holding’s Em Sherif Qatar celebrates 2nd anniversary

On Tuesday, 25th February 2020, Em Sherif Restaurant at the Sheraton Grand in Doha celebrated the completion of its 2nd successful year in Qatar. The event began at 7:00 pm where Mrs. Mireille Hayek – the founder and creator of Em Sherif Restaurants along with her brother Mr. Dany Chaccour – CEO of SGR offshore, welcomed the guests to the special evening that celebrated Em Sherif Restaurant’s story of success.

 

The idyllic setting with the panoramic view of the Arabian Gulf and Doha Corniche, was the perfect backdrop for the dazzling ceremony. The founder joined the gathering filled with VIP guests and special invitees, who applauded the continuing strength and the achievements of Em Sherif brand.

 

As always, Em Sherif Restaurant had an extraordinary surprise planned to entertain its guests. Aziza, the renowned Lebanese singer performed live at the event, much to the delight of the invitees, the media and social media influencers who were present at the evening. The product training, held at W Doha Hotel & Residence in West Bay, was designed to enable the salespersons develop a deeper understanding of the S20 series & Z Flip offerings so that they can help customers make the right choice.

Galeries Lafayette Doha unveils ‘Mother Blossom’ campaign in association with international paper artist Zoe Bradley

Adding to the bloom to spring 2020, Galeries Lafayette Doha launched the unique ‘Mother Blossom’ campaign on February 22, 2020. The theme not only celebrates the advent of spring but also paved the way for the upcoming Mother’s Day celebrations in the Middle East on March 21. The stars of this campaign were the creative floral designs by world-famous British paper artist Zoe Bradley.

 

To support the campaign, Zoe was herself present at the launch event of the campaign where the local media and social media influencers got a rare chance to interact with her. The paper artist, whose work combines sculpture, fashion and theatre, conceptualized and created some exclusive pieces to adorn the Parisian Department Store for the ‘Mother Blossom’ campaign.

 

Speaking about her creations, Zoe said: “I work with paper just as a designer works with fabric, folding, curling, scoring and stitching the paper. My challenge is always to create something unexpected from its original 2D sheet form into a magical 3D sculpture. I am excited to present my contemporary paper art installation and it’s very rewarding to see my paper sculptures fit into different environments and cultures.”

 

Apart from the four floral headpieces featured in the store, it is the pastel pink paper floral dress that will leave everyone spellbound. This is the first time the dress has been displayed to the public and the discerning customers of Galleries Lafayette.

 

Symbolizing the awakening of a new season and in celebration of Mother’s Day, the dress featured prominently at the entrance to Galeries Lafayette Doha, offering an inspirational welcome on a monumental scale.

 

The dress took three weeks to make by highly skilled members of Zoe’s team. It’s adorned with over 1,500 hand-cut flowers, including a typically English variety of roses, cherry blossom, delphinium, daisies and butterflies. Each individual flower was applied by hand, creating the pattern and texture of the gown. The final creation was led by Zoe’s own instinctive eye – which makes every dress of hers truly unique.

 

Thanking Zoe for her support and contribution to the ‘Mother Blossom’ campaign, Creative & Store Design Director of Galeries Lafayette Doha Kevin Gerard Pender said: “It is an honor to have Zoe Bradley’s art displayed in our store. The way she conceptualized and created the unique works to art to merge with our campaign is truly awe inspiring. Zoe’s paper sculpture will create an unforgettable experience for our clients.”

 

Zoe draws upon her skills as a former fashion designer, working like a tailor while also applying her artistry using the paper form. Today, her clients include worldwide luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Dior, Tiffany & co., Graff, Christian Louboutin, Sotheby’s and Harrods.

Ali Bin Ali Holding celebrates Qatar National Sport Day 2020

Continuing the long-standing tradition, Ali Bin Ali Holding organized the 13th Ali Bin Ali Olympic Day on February 11, 2020. The annual event, held with the slogan ‘Together we work, together we play’, is a part of Qatar’s National Sports Day celebrations.

This year, the event was organized at the Sheraton Hotel Park, Doha, in a natural outdoor setting. Multiple games and activities were lined up for everyone to participate in.

ABA Holding employees from different levels and divisions of the Group attended the event, making it a perfect opportunity to mingle outside work and get to know each other personally.

In line with the motto of Qatar National Sport Day, the event highlighted the importance of staying healthy and engaging in physical activities through the year.

The day’s proceedings began with senior officials of the Group welcoming everyone and inaugurating the event. This was followed by various sporting activities and games for the employees. The eventful day ended with the distribution of prizes and a raffle draw.

Head of the ABA Olympic Day organizing committee, Mr. Mohammad Imran, said: “It is always a pleasure to organize the Olympic Day. Our Group has always believed in the importance of being healthy and encourages the staff to follow an active lifestyle. Dohatna Innovative Distribution organizes annual meet

Ali Bin Ali Holding’s Dohatna Innovative Distribution organized an annual meet event at Marriott Marquis City Center Doha Hotel on January 29, 2020.

The first edition of the meet was meant to recognize and appreciate the best- performing partners in different categories for Dohatna’s Samsung business division.

The evening was also used as a platform to launch some new innovative Samsung devices – the Galaxy Note10 Lite, S10 Lite and A71.

Apart from the General Manager of Dohatna Innovative Distribution, Mr. Mohammad Imran, and his staff, also present at the event were representatives from LuLu Hypermarket, Carrefour Qatar, Qatar Duty Free and other major electronics retailers in the country.

Opening the event, Mr. Imran said: “It is a pleasure to welcome all our partners here today and I take this opportunity to thank all of you for your support. This is our humble effort to appreciate and recognize your contribution. We take pride in being associated with all of you and hope our relationship gets stronger in the days to come.”

Although the meet was to appreciate all partners of Dohatna Innovative Distribution, some partners deserved special recognition and were awarded.
